Guía de Recursos sobre Relatividad ==============================================================================================

* Introducción

Entre los años 1991 y 2007 Chris Hillman mantuvo el sitio "Relativity on the World Wide Web" que era una lista de recursos científicamente precisos acerca de las teorías de la relatividad especial y general. Contenía links a recursos para todos los niveles de audiencia y una lista de libros con comentarios. El sitio estaba alojado bajo el ala de John Baez, conocido investigador y pionero de la divulgación a través de internet.
A partir de junio de 2007 apareció el siguiente mensaje en la dirección original (http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/RelWWW/):
RelWWW has existed for approximately 15 years, but in the past 5 years it has become clear that I lack the time and inclination to properly maintain this website. More seriously, the World Wide Web has not developed in the way I hopefully anticipated back in 1992. Consequently, I have concluded that the site is no longer useful for the hypothetical "serious student" whom I envisioned as the target audience. Therefore, I have deleted it.

Según un comentario del propio Baez, en el blog Not Even Wrong [1],

Chris Hillman began his internet career as a relentless scourge of crackpots, but then became increasingly scared of them, probably due to threats he received. He
then tried to expunge every trace of himself, for example demanding that I remove
his page Relativity on the World-Wide Web from my website.

He doesn’t have an academic career, and when I last checked he was unemployed and ill. He originally had some connection to the math department at the University of Washington, and had an email account there. Later he lost that. More recently all communications I’ve received from have been via pseudonymous email accounts.

One moral is that if you plan to spend a lot of time debunking crackpots, you should expect some of them to eventually spend a lot of time attacking you. So, think a bit about whether you have the stomach for this. I decided a while ago that there are better things to do.

Daría la impresión de que Hillman desapareció de la escena decepcionado por aquello en lo cual se convirtió la WWW. Aparentemente también se desilusionó con el efecto Wikipedia. No obstante, el sitio aún puede visitarse a través del servicio Internet Archive Wayback Machine [2] que preserva sitios enteros tiempo después de que hallan dejado de estar disponibles online.

La idea que emergió de estos acontecimientos fue la de hacer una revisión y continuación de ese material, incorporándole mi propia impronta por supuesto y sirviendo a la vez de depósito de los links y notas que acumulo en mi navegación por la vasta WWW  y los libros en búsqueda de conocimiento.  Por otro lado, dado que estoy actualmente trabajando en gravitación y relatividad general, veo la tarea como una toma de perspectiva casi obligada. Consciente de la escasez de tiempo que afronto, cada vez más acuciante en vistas a los interesantes cotos que se abren para que los recorra, también representa un desafío intentar revisar y sintetizar el valioso material disponible en internet así como la bibliografía clásica.
