Initially proved itself as a fast plane - a prototype gained the velocity on the distance record - the Breda 88 revealed himself to be a disaster once modified to fullfil military employements. The production of 80 exemplars has been already submitted when it was discovered the poor manouverability and the notable lacking of performance that harassed the armed planes. Sent to North African front in 1940, the Breda 88 couldn't realize good results, even if equipped with anti-sand filters, due to the overheating of the engines. But other 67 planes were built before Superaereo cancelled the Breda 88 project.
